Today is the second day of a very busy week leading up to Donna's and my trip to ride Highway 1 down the coast of Washington, through Oregon and, if we're lucky, into Northern California before we have to turn toward home. We would love to make it as far as Sequoia National Park, but I have a feeling we'll be lucky to make it to the Redwoods of Northern California. We are asking the weather gods to be kind to us on our long trek west and back.
We have the opportunity to take a month-long vacation, and decided to spend it checking off a "bucket list" item -- ride Hwy 1 as far as possible. Having planned this trip for the last year, we almost had to call it off when things changed dramatically at my job. Sparing the details, suffice it to say that I have the most awesome boss in the world because she went to bat for her people. (Thanks JJ.)
Our plan is to ride to the Sturgis Rally, stay a few days and then head toward Seattle where we plan to visit with our friends Mona and Thom. We haven't seen them in years, so it will be a nice reunion. After visiting with Mona and Thom, we plan to head toward Highway 1 and point the bikes south.
Three days and a wake-up. I can hardly wait! :-)
